Top HBOS boss was ‘given high-end escorts and luxury holidays’ as ‘huge reward’ for part in 짙245m loan scam

A BANKER at HBOS was treated to high-class hookers in a 짙245million loan scam, a court heard.

Lynden Scourfield, 54, also got luxury holidays as kickbacks from tycoon David Mills.

The pair were said to be a in a ?쐁orrupt relationship??

Mills, 59, was recommended to failing businesses by Scourfield as a rescue specialist, prosecutors told Southwark crown court.

Mills??advisory service charged huge fees to firms to try to save them.

And Scourfield, whose job as boss of the bank?셲 Impaired Assets unit was to save failing businesses, kept making loans the firms could not pay off.

Companies were run into the ground with Mills and pal Michael Bancroft, 73, taking them over, the trial heard.


Prosecutor Brian O?셄eill said: ?쏶courfield was the goose laying the golden eggs. David Mills just had to keep feeding him.??/p>

He told jurors HBOS lost around 짙245million on loans managed by Scourfield.

And police found evidence of ?쐆uge rewards??provided by Mills to Scourfield.

This included a credit card, lavish hospitality, foreign travel and sexual encounters with high-class escorts, said Mr O?셄eill.

Scourfield, who is not on trial, earned around 짙88,000-a-year at HBOS.

But 짙350,000 in his accounts was unexplained, the court heard.

Mills and wife Alison, 51, of Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucs, deny corruption and fraud.

Jonathan Cohen is an accountant who faces similar charges in HBOS scandal

Bancroft, of Shipston-on-Stour, Warks, accountant Jonathan Cohen, 57, of Pinner, North London, and banker Mark Dobson, 55, of Barnsbury, North London, and textile expert John Cartwright, 71, of Hyde, Cheshire, face similar charges.

The trial continues at the South London court.
